Widows Project Launch Founder’s Address by Isaac Olagunju – February 25th, 2017

Today we are seated in the king’s palace but there’s a King that’s above all kings. To Him be the glory for this day! Without Him, today is impossible! A warm greeting to all the distinguished guests seated today, all widows and widowers seated, Board Members and the Implementation Committee members who have worked diligently to make today possible.

Our Foundation relies heavily on the donations of individuals and organizations who share in our passion to be a blessing by demonstrating God’s love through solving real world problems. We are so thankful to our friends, family and partners who have donated generously to our cause. We are especially thankful to the folks at Antioch Church, Woodstock, GA, USA for their generous donation to our Widows Project.

Our gratitude will be incomplete without acknowledging Mrs. Ruth Ebunlomo Olagunju the honoree for this Foundation. Her life of generosity is the engine that led to the birth of this Foundation. She planted the seed because of her life of selflessly finding a way to be a blessing to others. We are eternally grateful that the seed she planted will live well beyond her life time here on earth.

I am personally grateful to my wife and children for wholeheartedly getting behind this dream even when no one else thought it was possible.  Thank you SO MUCH for your sacrifices and labor of love. I am so proud to be doing life together and look forward to how God continues to use us as a catalyst for change to demonstrate His kingdom in a practical way.

Today we are kicking of this project because we care and because it pleases God. We are simply doing the scripture: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this; to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” James 1:27. We are here to encourage you through this Foundation that God will never leave nor forsake you. We are simply a part of God’s bigger plan to demonstrate to you how much He cares for you.

Today, I want to encourage you that we are all blessed and that we all have something to give. I want to encourage you to purposefully live a life of giving. Paul said in Acts 20:35 that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” Sometimes we think we don’t have much to give because we don’t have a lot of money. A life of generosity is not determined by how much money we have. Whatever you have you can give and as you give others will be blessed. For some, it’s your gift of encouragement, for some it’s your gift of singing, for others it may be a material gift. Whatever God has blessed you with, I encourage you to ask Him to give you the grace to share that blessing so you can experience the joy of giving abundantly.

When you give, do it liberally without discrimination. Don’t bless people who are only in the same circle as you or people of the same faith or people of the same political party. When it rains, it rains on the just and unjust because God is a good God who lavishes His blessings generously without discrimination. Emulate the character of God in your giving.

We at Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation are committed to living out our motto of “Blessed to be a blessing” LOUDLY! What we are doing today is just the beginning and we have BIGGER things planned and trusting God to make it come through.

Thank you for joining us today and we look forward to seeing you next quarter. It is my prayer that God will keep watch over you and may His blessings continue to abound in your life.
