A Dream Fulfilled

To God be the glory great things He hath done. Today, my heart is full of joy because on May 29th, 2016, I accomplished one of my long time dreams, the desire to launch a foundation in my mother’s name.

The seed for the launch on May 29th was planted in 2000 during my visit to Igosun, Kwara State, Nigeria. As I was getting ready to leave the village, my Mom called me thrice to which I said “yes Mom.” She then said, “let me tell you something” and I said “what?” She said, “generosity is a gift.”

To be honest I didn’t quite get what point she was making so I asked her and she explained. She told me some people have the financial capability but they don’t have the will (or gift as she puts it) to give and there are others who just find ways to give no matter what they have financially. She said, “be thankful because you have the gift of generosity.” She then gave me several examples to convince me how God has gifted me to use generosity to change lives. That seed that was planted in me has shaped my life of serving and giving however God leads me.

My mother is the most generous person I know. It’s impossible to meet my Mom and not experience an act of generosity. There’s NOTHING you can give my Mom that she will not find a way to share with someone else. She is gifted at sharing in ways you don’t even know are possible. She gets so much joy in giving and is truly experiencing the truth of knowing “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” I have not met anyone yet in my village who hasn’t been directly or indirectly touched by her generosity.

For years, I have wanted to honor her lifetime of giving by creating a foundation that will honor her legacy of generosity while she is with us and something that will live beyond her time here on earth. I wanted her to know how much she’s appreciated and how much she’s touched so many lives. On May 29th, we launched Ruth Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation. We are already making an impact in the village and looking forward to the years to come of extending God’s love by generously being a blessing to people. We are blessed to be a blessing and we want to live it out LOUD!

I am returning to the U.S. this weekend. I am excited to be reunited with my family and friends but I must confess my heart is still here. I am looking forward to continuing what we started. I am so passionate about this project and it’s such a privilege and honor to be a vessel that God is using to bring it all together. I feel like I have discovered a mission that’s worth living for. Thank you for your support which is making this dream become a reality.

Thank you!
Isaac
