Generosity [jen-uh-ros-i-tee] – readiness or liberality in giving

Feb 15, 2017

Have you ever seen someone or something that just speaks the definition of a word? Have you ever had the opportunity to make a decision and then be reminded at another time or receive confirmation that the decision was the right one?

We probably can all look back and remember a time when we could answer yes to either or both of the questions above. That is exactly what is happening to the founders of the Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation. It is such a privilege and honor to be able to watch first hand Mrs. Ruth Ebunlomo Olagunju, the honoree for Ebunomo Olagunju Foundation, go about her daily life.

Many know and have heard that Mrs. Ruth Ebunlomo Olagunju is one of the most generous people that many know. It is so amazing to see how she freely gives. Nothing is too small nor is anything too big. Whether it is cash, food, praying for people or making people laugh she just seems to find a way to bless others. We knew when we started this foundation that we wanted to honor her life of generosity while she is still alive but her daily display of generosity is teaching us a life lesson that will live beyond her years on earth. Her heart overflows with love, compassion, generosity and an overwhelming thankfulness and zeal for life. We are so thankful for the blessing that is Mrs. Ruth Ebunlomo Olagunju.

Her generosity and compassion was witnessed first hand again today. She was put in the position to receive a delivery that is in preparation for the Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation to kick off the Widows Project. The delivery was not for her. It was only being left at her home. The gentlemen made the delivery and were paid for the delivery. Mrs. Ruth Ebunlomo Olagunju would not allow the delivery men to leave empty handed. She quickly went to her room where she keeps all her things and returned with a dozen biscuits for them to take with them. In her mind, it is absolutely unacceptable no matter what your status, title, position or reason for stopping by for you to leave empty handed.

It is a beautiful thing to watch, generosity in action. Each one of us can learn so much by watching her give unselfishly and then seeing the pure joy that illuminates on her face. What a confirmation that the Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation would be started in her honor. Mrs. Ruth Ebunlomo Olagunju is fully living out the scripture in Acts 20:35 where Paul says that it is more blessed to give than to receive. She has truly found the joy in giving and regularly challenges others to discover the joy of giving. We are truly blessed to be a blessing!
