Although the late Mrs. Ruth Ebunlomo Olagunju, the honoree for the foundation, and her late husband Mr. Solomon Atoyebi Olagunju never received any formal education, they knew early on in their parenting that education was going to be the key to success for their children. Because of this vision and drive, they instilled in their own children the importance for education and where that education would take them.

They were right! As a result of education, many of their children have had opportunities that would otherwise not have been possible. Most have had the opportunity to study and travel abroad. There are several who have held prestigious positions in organizations that wouldn’t have been possible without their education. With the vision and passion the late Mrs. Ruth Ebunlomo Olagunju and her husband had for their own children’s education, it is only fitting that one of the key areas of focus for the Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation is education.

The education project was established to focus on four key initiatives within the schools in Igosun, Kwara State Nigeria. The current initiatives include the following:

1. Provide school supplies and basic necessities for the school, students and teachers.
2. Ebunlomo Olagunju Scholarship to provide financial assistance to students based on academic performance.
3. Ebunlomo Olagunju Scholarship to provide financial assistance to students based on financial needs.
4. Provide coaching and training through our satellite program through our partners in the United States.

An additional initiative that we continue to research and consider is a Library and Technology Center in Igosun, Kwara State Nigeria. Our goal is to provide a safe environment where people can come to open their minds through reading and technology. We would like to provide academic books (for students to check out) as well as books for leisure reading. We envision training people in technology so they become employable from the skills acquired through our technology training program. Although this initiative is still in the dreaming and research stage, we continue to explore ways to increase the opportunity for learning, growing and success of our friends in Igosun.

It is the heart of Ebunlomo Olagunju Foundation to provide an opportunity to the children in Igosun, Kwara State Nigeria to have encouragement and the physical items they need to set them up for their future success. Children are our future!
